Stephen Eldred

I began my photographic studies in 1976 with Ellen Gibson at the College of San Mateo in Northern California. In 1983, I received an Apprenticeship with Doug Yule at Star Graphic Arts in Palo Alto, California, where I studied for 5 years. It was there that I learned Photo-sensitometry, and the technical field of color separation. I worked for 12 years as a color separation specialist, creating digital color litho plates for many of the worlds finest photographers and painters. In 1985, I began studying with Robert Vernon Wilson of Palo Alto, California.

These experiences were fundamental in my visual and technical development. I work in a variety of styles and techniques; from traditional large and medium format in color and monochrome, to digitally enhanced works in pigment ink giclee'. All prints are signed, created to archival standards, and matted for conservation.
